My son’s team (that I coach - 4th grade) had their first basketball playoff game; it was a very tough fight and our team was down by 3 with a minute to go, not looking good... Then one of his teammates drained a 3-pointer to tie the game! Both teams were in the bonus, so we were all yelling “don’t foul!”. The other team ended up with the ball with like 20 seconds left, bringing the ball down - my son manages to get a steal, drives down splitting two defenders and gets his shot off right as the buzzer goes off, and... swish! The whole place went wild! So happy for these boys - they deserved a big win like this after some hard losses. And so proud of our boy for coming through in the clutch!

Aww. It’s so cool to see them get it right under pressure. It’s amazing what it can do for a kid. Congrats to them (and to you, coach!)

Those are great years that lead to great memories! When my middle son was that age, his team too was playing in the playoffs. The ball is inbounded to him from the side, he takes two dribbles and pulls up for a 12-foot jumper with 10 seconds on the clock and his team down by one. The coaches and every single parent yells “no.” He calmly drills it, looks at the parent section and smiles, then promptly steals the inbound pass and dribbles out the clock. It’s 12 years later and I still have a vivid memory of it. Then he quit basketball for soccer and I disowned him.

Haha! That’s awesome.

My son went the other way - gave up soccer and stuck with basketball.

That’s what I’m going to get him when he gets a full ride scholarship for college! =)

Thanks! We’re both still on cloud 9 this morning. He said he dreamed about basketball last night. =)
